Flying Blind
Have you ever sensed that as you are “flying blind” as you go forward in what God has asked you to do?
Like a pilot flying in the fog, and trusting that your cockpit instruments are telling you the truth, you go forward, even though you can’t see your destination.
How often our lives are like that.
As we follow after Jesus, it seems we more often than not are on a “need to know” basis, as the One in charge of the over-all mission directs His servants to go where He needs them.
I’m sharing that simple word today, because of a comment in the chat of my recent livestream concert. Jenny had commented that the whole concert seemed to be a lesson in trust, and that she suspected a podcast might come out of that.
Uncharted Territory
That had not been my own intention, but it seemed so true in the moment, and this word will hopefully encourage your heart if you happen to be walking through uncharted territory while following Christ.
For me, in the moment, it was needing to rely on my computer screen looking as though the audio was working, even though my earbuds suddenly stopped working.
Jenny’s comment also highlighted that some of the songs that had been chosen went along with that theme.
I’ll link below to the full concert if you’d like to watch/hear it.
Whose Plan?
But whatever the case, we so often experience moments in our Christian walk that don’t go along with OUR plan.
We need to trust the One who has called us for HIS purposes.
Things will not always make sense to us, since we don’t see the full picture.
He simply asks us to continue to follow Him.
Carrying on with the concert was not a difficult task. It simply involved trust in Him, and encouragement from others who COULD hear, to keep going.
But there ARE times in our lives in which it is REALLY hard to keep going. Times when He requires us to walk through difficult and heart-breaking seasons.
Don’t Lose Heart
I urge you to keep following after Him. Don’t lose heart and do not grow weary in doing good (as in Galatians 6:9).
Even in our most difficult challenging times … even when we have failed Him or those we love … even when our loved ones have disappointed us … even when we feel like we can’t take one more step … His tender heart can speak these words to our innermost beings:
“Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'”
(Isaiah 30:20-21)
Ultimately, if we are open to learning the difficult lessons, He will prove Himself faithful and gracious…. And that builds our trust in Him, even when we are flying blind.
Are there areas in your life where you feel like you are flying blind?
Drop a comment below. I’ll be praying for you as He leads you on by His grace.
